Born and raised on Long Island ,New York, where I was introduced to football betting by playing parlay cards or what they called tickets at the age of 13. In 1981, I was off to Las Vegas to enroll at UNLV- not exactly the Ivy league, but a great place to learn about the Sports Handicapping world. After working for a few years on the other side of the counter, I decided that I was finished chasing degenerate gamblers and friends all over town for money. I thought that this total would go up all day Sunday, but the wiseguys and syndicates have started to play the UNDER already. It makes sense, Colts QB Peyton Manning coming off an injury and hasn't played a snap all preseason and he will have to play without his long time Center Jeff Saturday. The Colts do bring a formidable defense that will let opponents play in front of them which uses a lot of play clock. The Bears will compete on defense, but on offense without any play makers, I see QB Orten managing the game well with short passes, and ground game and playing to keep it close in the 4th quarter.

An old time handicapping strategy, when the oddsmaker and public love to play over high totals in week #1. The Oddsmaker doesn't know how QB Derek Anderson and the Browns will react after being injured. I have watched HBO's Hard Knocks the show that follows the Cowboys around each week in their country club training camp. The Dallas offensive starters haven't looked sharp this preseason, and haven't gotten a lot of work, and their 3-4-5 WR's are banged up. Remember the Giants game on Thursday where the Giants offense was tired in the second half, I can forsee that today with the Cowboys/Browns.

This is an ugly matchup , but when we win, the money all spends the same. More of a play against Baltimore than anything else. For the Ravens it's Harbaugh's first game as a head coach, QB Joe Flacco makes his first start, which will be a huge jump from playing at Delaware and RB Ray Rice will see a lot of action. The Veteran Bengals have won 7 out of the last 8 in this matchup and with the low pointspread this trend should hopefully continue.

Finally back to the real world of NFL. By taking the Titans we're getting a quality home dog, who plays good defense and can run the ball and is well coached. The Jaguars have had distractions in the offseason with TE Matt Jones arrest, and now backup OL Collier is in critical care all week. JAX has also had cluster injuries at WR position this preseason and I expect them to struggle in the passing game. PLAY ON TITANS!
