Quaker State 400 NASCAR Preview

The Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series will make a stop in Kentucky this week for the 2019 running of the Quaker State 400. The race will be held at Kentucky Speedway which is located in the city of Sparta, Kentucky. The drivers will be racing on a 1.5 mile track and there will be a total of 267 laps ran. This event has been extremely exciting in recent seasons and much of the same should be expected in 2019. Betting on NASCAR can be extremely difficult, but it can also be a great way to win a ton of money if you bet on the correct driver. Let’s take a look at some of the top drivers this season, and their chances to come through this weekend at the Kentucky Speedway.

Leaders in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series

Joey Logano: Logano is coming off of a difficult and disappointing 23rd place finish at the Coke Zero Sugar 400 at Daytona this past weekend, but he is still having a terrific season. Logano is currently the leader with 700 Sprint Cup Series points, and has already registered a pair of wins this season. He is a driver that always has a shot to win any race that he is entered in, and will be one of the drivers to watch out for this weekend.

Kyle Busch: Kyle Busch is right behind Logano with 682 points this season, and he is closing the gap quickly. Busch has already won four races this season and has finished in the top-five a whopping ten times. He is also coming off of a very disappointing finish at the Coke Zero Sugar 400, and will be looking to get back in the winner’s circle this weekend.

Kevin Harvick: Kevin Harvick is third in the Sprint Cup Series standings, but he is still looking for his first win of the season. It’s very unusual for Harvick to go this long into a season without a win, and you would think that one is coming very soon. Harvick is one of the best drivers in the sport, and he is always pushing to earn the checkered flag.

Brad Keselowski: Keselowski has had great success at this race in the past, and is having a great year in 2019. He sits in fourth place in the standings, but could easily make a run at the top with a few great races in a row. He has three wins already this season to go along with seven top-five finishes.

Martin Truex Jr.: The two-time defending champion at this event comes into the 2019 running with a ton of momentum. Truex Jr. has already won four races this season, and would be leading in the standings if not for a few bad weekends. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v_mUD8T0BYQ

Past Winners:

2018 Martin Truex, Jr.

2017 Martin Truex, Jr.

2016 Brad Keselowski

2015 Kyle Busch

2014 Brad Keselowski

2013 Matt Kenseth

2012 Brad Keselowski

It is pretty clear that Brad Keselowski and Martin Truex Jr. are very comfortable on this racetrack. Truex has won each of the last two runnings of the Quaker State 400, and should be in contention again this weekend. Even though each year and each race brings something new to the table, having the experience of winning on this track is something that shouldn’t be ignored.

The Pick:

It is extremely hard for a driver to win the same race for a third straight year, but Martin Truex Jr. isn’t any old driver. Truex has been great on this track in the last two years, and he is going to use that experience to his advantage again. Truex is having a very solid season, and a win at the Quaker State 400 could propel him back to the top of the Sprint Cup Series standings.
