The UCLA Bruins have made a somewhat surprising choice at quarterback to start the season. True freshman Josh Rosen will open the season vs Virginia as UCLA's starting quarterback. Head coach Jim Mora told ESPN "When you're recruiting the No. 1-ranked quarterback in the country, you kind of hope that he lives up to that billing. We haven't played one single snap of real football yet, but at this point he's living up to that billing. He's been here for winter, spring, summer so (the players) know him. It's not like he just got here two, three weeks ago. Being an early admit has really helped and I think what has happened over the course of the last few months (his teammates have) come to know him, like him and respect him." Josh Rosen beat out junior Jerry Neuheisel for the job. Rosen put up great numbers at St. John Bosco High in California. Rosen threw for 8,473 yards and 90 touchdowns in his high school career. Neuheisel is 37-52 passing with 318 yards, two touchdowns and one interception in his first two years for the Bruins in limited play. The Bruins are currently 17 point favorites next Saturday vs Virginia and the total is set at 53.
