The last time we saw the Rangers they were in the midst of getting beat in the AL Play offs by Toronto. However before the Play offs started they were finishing off an outstanding season by winning the AL Western Division. After a terrible start and a bunch of injuries, first year Manager Jeff Bannister kept the Rangers focus. At the All-Star Break there were 42-46, while the LA Angeles were 48-40 and Houston was 49-42 were battling for first place in the West. As the story goes the hotter the summer got so did the Rangers. Then on August 27 the magic started for the Rangers. They were 64-61 and then went 24-13 to win the Division. That's also when they got some players healthy. Bannister went on to win 'Manager of the Year'. This season looks like it will be as successful as 2015.
Texas basically returns the same line up from last season with the newly acquired shortstop turned outfielder Ian Desmond. Desmond will provide a much needed RH hitter and should put up 25 to 30 home runs this season. The pitching begins with Yu Darvish who is expected to return in mid-May. Cole Hamels is the ace of the staff. Derek Holland tries to return to his old form after being injured the last two years. If Colby Lewis can repeat his 17 wins of last year the Rangers will be in the hunt again this season for the AL West Crown! The Rangers should win more than 83 games in 2016!
