The National Football League is in desperate need of some terrific primetime games, and they are hopeful that the week three Sunday Night Football matchup will help. The improving Cleveland Browns will host the defending NFC Champion, Los Angeles Rams, in what should be a terrific football game. The Rams come into this game with a perfect 2-0 record, and the Rams were able to get their first win of the season in week two. There is a good chance that both of these teams will be playoff teams at the end of the regular season.
The Rams are coming into this game fresh off of a huge win over the New Orleans Saints. This game was a rematch of the 2018 NFC Championship Game, but an injury to Drew Brees gave the Rams a huge advantage. Los Angeles earned a close 30-27 win over the Carolina Panthers in week one, and will be looking for their third straight win in this game. Cleveland got blown out in their home opener in week one, losing by a score of 43-13 to the Tennessee Titans. The Browns got back on track with a blowout win by a score of 23-13 over the New York Jets. Los Angeles is a -2.5 point road favorite in this game. The Cleveland Browns have an up and coming star playing quarterback for them, and they have done a great job of surrounding him with some elite talent. Cleveland brought in Odell Beckham Jr. in the offseason, and that move has already paid great dividends for the team. OBJ had six catches for 161 yards and two touchdowns in the week two win, and has already become the top target for Baker Mayfield. Mayfield is averaging 305 passing yards per game, but has thrown four interceptions already this season. Cleveland had a terrific defense a season ago, but things have been a little shaky so far this season. The Browns were torched in week one by the Titans, but manhandled a bad Jets team in week two. The Browns have recorded eight sacks already this season, but have forced just one turnover. Defense will be a huge key to success for the Browns in this game. The Los Angeles Rams have one of the best passing attacks in the NFL, but their key to success has and will always be running the ball. Todd Gurley looks fully healthy again and is averaging 5.3 yards per carry this season. Gurley was injured at the end of last season, but his presence in the lineup just makes the Rams a hard team to stop. Quarterback Jared Goff still has a trio of talented receivers to get the ball to as well. Aaron Donald has yet to record a sack for the Los Angeles Rams this season, but his presence has been very noticeable. Donald knocked Drew Brees out of the game a week ago, and teams are trying to get the ball out in a hurry on offense. Linebacker Cory Littleton leads the team with 22 tackles this season, and has also intercepted a pass. The Los Angeles Rams defense is a very underrated unit. Playing at home should give the Cleveland Browns a small edge in this game, but it won’t be enough. The Los Angeles Rams have proven that they can win monster games on the road before, and they will not be intimidated by playing in Cleveland on Sunday night. There should be a ton of points scored in this game, as two of the top quarterbacks in the league will be on the field. Look for the Browns to keep this game close, but betting on the Los Angeles Rams -2.5 over the Cleveland Browns on Sunday night.
