Sean is gearing up for a huge CFB season and here is his 3rd College Football Conference Preview. Higgs is heading to the BIG 12 today!

BIG 12

- OKLAHOMA - I always feel like Stoops let's me down when I have them up here. They never really finish went ranked in the pre-season Top 5 and they could up here to start the year. The talent, as always, is there. Baker Mayfield is the best in the conference and will get some Heisman support. RB Samaje Perine is a beast and will take votes from Mayfield. 13 total returning starters for the reigning conference champs. We will know how good this team is when Ohio State comes to Norman Sept. 17th. They do get Baylor and Oklahoma State at home in conference play. It is their's to lose.

- TCU - I am probably higher on TCU then others and in those teams below, you will see why. I like Kenny Hill coming in at QB even with just 3 starters returning. He has proven a winner in the SEC and should step in fine here. The defense is loaded. They took some injuries there last year, but Gary Patterson always has his D up to the task. If they take out Oklahoma at home Oct. 1, this team might make a big move.

- BAYLOR - Look. Seth Russell was an absolute beast before breaking his neck, and Jarrett Stidham was pretty solid taking over as a freshman. They have 5 returning starters on both sides of the ball. For me though, it will be the line play. The OL and DL lost 8 starters! I get goods team don't rebuild, they reload. But that is a tall task in any conference to overcome no matter how great your QB is.

- OKLAHOMA STATE - I will say this. I have these guys down here, but I would not be shocked if Gundy's group claims the top stop. They have 17 starters back, 10 on offense! The caveat to them winning the Big 12 will be of course knocking off everyone above.. On the road.. None to easy.

- TEXAS - I'm a Charlie Strong fan. I liked him at UL. Thought he did a good job recruiting and building that program. Stepping into Texas I figured he would be a monster. Texas sells itself and to be honest, I think this is a big year for him. 5-7 seasons don't keep the faithful behind you for long. The offense needs to make a huge stride here. We will find out nice and early about the Longhorns. They open Sept 4 against Notre Dame.

- WEST VIRGINIA - I could almost have these guys lower with this defense they are fielding. Just 4 starters back and DC Tony Gibson needs to work a miracle facing these opposing offenses. Dana Holgorsen is on the hot seat here. 10-3 his first year with another coaches players. Then 7-6,4-8,7-6, and 8-5.

- KANSAS STATE - I can't put Snyder any lower. The guy continually overachieves to epic levels. Wildcats were 6-6 before losing in their bowl game. The schedule is very tough. They might squeeze out 6 wins again, or use some Snyder magic to pull an upset or two.

- TEXAS TECH - The most handsome man on the sidelines is looking to break out here in year 4. Kliff Kingsbury is trying to steer the Red Raiders to a winning conference record and it won't be easy. They are still a notch below the big boys here. But 7 wins is in site and that means a bowl which never hurts a coach.

- IOWA STATE - Rebuilding in Ames as new HC Matt Campbell comes over Toledo. The shelve isn't completely barren as we find 8 starters back on defense and 5 more on offense. RB Mike Warren is all conference talent and there are play-makers at WR. I think they top last years 3 wins. And if they can get a few bounces, a bowl bid won't be a complete shocker for me.

- KANSAS JAYHAWKS - Bet the fans can't wait for basketball season. 0-12 overall, 0-9 in Big 12 play. Average score 48-12. HC David Beaty will make some progress this year. I think they win a couple games! I do. 8 starters on both sides of the ball. I know they record hasn't been good lately. 2,1,3,3,0 wins the last 5 years.
