There's no shame in being a "square" and back mostly favorites, after all, any way of turning a profit is a good way, and favorites are perfect to use in parlays to turn a quick buck. Due to the high price, you'll need to pick your spots very carefully though.
Here Mike Lundin is taking a look at a couple of favorites from Thursday's NHL card that he would advise you to AVOID using in your parlays or singles. Remember, a unit not lost is worth just as much as a unit won in your bankroll.
Vancouver Canucks vs. Boston Bruins (-190)
The Bruins have become way too big favorites here. Five of the Nucks last six games have gone past regulation and they had won two straight prior to Tuesday's 3-2 OT loss at Madison Square Garden. The Bruins are off three consecutive wins against Buffalo, Toronto and Montreal, but this could be a let down spot as they're only 1-5 in their last six against teams from the Western Conference.
Philadelphia Flyers vs. Pittsburgh Penguins (-155)
The Pens have two wins in their last seven games and they're only 3-7 in their last 10 at home. Philly has dominated this series in recent seasons with eight straight wins against its Keystone State rival and it has claimed 13 of the last 16 matchups at Pittsburgh. The Flyers have contrary to the Pens won five of their last seven and I see absolutely no value at all on Pittsburgh here.
