This is an intriguing matchup with the Rangers now facing one of their castoffs (after 8 seasons with them) whom their bats should be very familiar with in LHP Derek Holland. Yes, the Pale Hose do hit LHP better for average than the Rangers. However, that hasn't tabulated into W's when traveling since Chicago is now a perfect 0-6 versus southpaws on the road. Holland has been getting consistently pounded of late posting a 7.90 ERA over his last 3 starts as well as coming in @ a 6.23 ERA on the road. In addition, Holland has lost his last 5 road starts & his team has gone 3-14 over his last 17 starts. His ERA @ night is the bottom of the barrel @ 7.34 while going 3-8 his last 11 starts under the lights. My bottom line points to the other southpaw pitching in Marty Perez. Perez (came over from Guanare - capital city of Portuguesa State in Venezuela) has pitched excellent over his last 2 starts (back-to-back wins) giving up just 3 ER over a span of 14 IP. He'll face a team that's 21-42 traveling which blends in nicely since Perez has dominated the patsies registering a 19-7 record @ home versus losing ball clubs. Pomeranz is a BIG winning edge here that's shown up dependable in these given situations. On the Bronx Bombers' side of the ledger, Mike Montgomery has had his share of troubles versus Boston. My bottom line stresses that putting this kid in this venue is a lot of pressure to handle that he isn't close to mastering yet. On the flip side of the coin, we'll find John Lackey whose Chicago side has won 6 consecutive times his last 6 starts. In this seriously heated NL Central race, expect yesterday's hiccup to look long gone after the Cubs arsenal unleashes itself early tonight.
