Cincinnati Reds vs. Minnesota Twins (MLB) - 2:10 PM EDT Premium Pick
Pick: Money Line: -144 Minnesota Twins Pick Title: 9 Star Streak's Over Play Of The Day (WIN)
Yes, the Minnesota Twins have lost 8 straight. But they'll be starting anew streak after today! The Reds are no strangers to the cellar of the NL Central. Even though they're coming off a 15-run performance versus these Twinkies, they're still 3-11 on the road & are a horrible 7-20 on Saturdays. Things haven't been too kind for the ole' Red Legs who are a no-show 3-15 on the inter-league road versus losing teams. Sustained wins aren't likely when you're hitting .229 versus RHP on the season & have a starting rotation that has a ballooning 5.74 ERA. Now let's look @ the currently-slumping boys from Minny-ha-ha. They're a complete turnaround in inter-league play winning 8 out of the last 9 @ home while also winning 8 of their last 10 versus inter-league RHP. My bottom line points out as an added bonus that HPU Tom Woodring has now seen 5 straight games won by the home team involving Cincinnati. The Twins still have a pretty good hitting lineup with Mauer, Dozier & Kepler. With Odorizzi getting our nod, let's go up to Target Field to play the MINNESOTA TWINS as my 9 Star Streak's Over Play Of The Day!
NOTES: It was another nice afternoon as we had the Twinkies with Jake Odorizzi going 6 strong (2nd win) before watching Fernando Rodney close it out with his 3rd save. It was another chance for platoonman & catcher Mitch Garver to prove himself since Minnesota benched a non-productive Jason Castro whose hitting .135. Garver came through with a home run as he watched his club earn their first win in 9 tries.
My rare free play was also a winner as Mexican League (AAA) entry Quintana Roo edged Oaxaca 3-1. Pablo Ortega pitched 7 solid innings before giving way closer Raul Barron earned save #7. The Tigers received a breath of fresh air a few days ago when they learned disgruntled journeyman & 2B Manny Rodriguez was picked up from Monclova after being fed up with front office moves. Apparently owners were sending good players to other teams they ALSO own in the Mexican League (a common practice in this league). Rodriguez responded loudly by hitting a 2-run homer which proved to be the deciding blow of the game. Stay tuned for more MLB & Mexican League plays throughout this young season as we dominate once again after finishing 1st in winning percentage @ 67% in MLB last season.
