USC Trojans vs. Washington Huskies -- 7:30 PM EDT Premium Pick
Analysis: The last time these 2 met was last season's PAC-12 affair that produced 94 total points & a combined 1,100 total yards (52-42 Washington). What stands out for me is Washington's uncanny ability to be a perfect 8-0 In The Stats yet their superior numbers game after game has them @ a ho-hum 4-4 SU. This is a MAJOR transitional season for new HC Jedd Fisch (took over after Kalen DeBoer-- now @ Alabama -- took them to the National Championship game) despite taking over a team that inherited an excellent defense. They take on a similar 4-4 SU Southern California squad under the direction of a possibly-on-the-outs Lincoln Riley. So I further feel this coach will be coaching for his job OFF of an EXTRA day rest & will be idle next week. On the flip side, Fisch & the Huskies have a GIGANTIC road game on deck with current Top 5 candidate Penn State. EVERYTHING such as the Huskies being 4-0 SU @ home, USC being 0-3 SU on the road, Riley being 4-18 ATS traveling conference opponents off consecutive losses & Washington being the #1 pass defense point toward a cruising win by the home squad. My bottom line says the stats say one thing but the keen eye says completely another as the INTANGIBLES sometime trump what common sense dictates.
