For the first time in 25 years, the Cleveland Browns won a playoff game, topping the Pittsburgh Steelers 48-37 last weekend. Now they get their reward, a date with the top-seeded Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday.

In their first playoff appearance since 2002, the Browns feasted on Steelers miscues to take a 28-0 first-quarter lead. Despite a feverish Pittsburgh comeback, Cleveland held on to advance to the AFC divisional round.

The defending Super Bowl champion Chiefs took the week off as the top seed in the AFC. They rested a number of starters, including quarterback Patrick Mahomes, in their season finale against the Chargers.

The core of the team should be well-rested and healthy as they host the Browns in Arrowhead Stadium.

Betting Lines and Odds

The Chiefs are healthy 9.5-point favorites over the Browns. The over/under is 55.0 points, the same as the combined season average per game for the two teams.

On the moneyline, the Chiefs are at -500, while the Browns are +360. For the season, neither team has been close to a lock against the spread.

Kansas City is 7-9, and Cleveland is 7-10 overall and 6-10 in the regular season. On the over/under, the Browns are 10-7 while the Chiefs are 8-8.

Cleveland Preview

Despite the glossy final score in the win over the Steelers, the Browns gave up a lot of yards. Pittsburgh turned the ball over five times, including four Ben Roethlisberger interceptions. The Steelers, not exactly a big-play team, stayed in the game by throwing the ball for over 500 yards.

In the regular season, Cleveland gave up more points than it scored and still managed to go 11-5. The Browns were 22nd in pass defense, and their defensive unit was 17th overall in the league.

Offensively, they relied on the running game, ranking third in the NFL with 148 yards a game.

When the Browns have running backs Nick Chubb and Kareem Hunt healthy, they make life miserable for opposing defenses. The pair combined for over 2,000 yards and 23 touchdowns.

Quarterback Baker Mayfield is especially effective when he's able to use play-action to open up the passing game.

Kansas City Preview

The 14-2 Chiefs have just continued doing the same things that won them their first title since 1970 last season. Mahomes is surrounded with weapons, notably rookie running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire, tight end Travis Kelce, and wide receiver Tyreek Hill.

Kelce is averaging 13.5 yards per reception and caught 11 touchdown passes in 15 games. Hill is even better with 14.7 yards per catch, 15 touchdown receptions and two running scores.

Basically, the Chiefs' top-ranked offense is a nightmare for opposing defenses.

The Chiefs' only loss in their first 15 games was a 40-32 decision to the Raiders. They gave up season highs of 490 total yards and 346 yards through the air.

They then reeled off 10 consecutive wins until their meaningless 38-21 loss to the Chargers in the season finale.

Game Preview and Prediction

Sports bettors know the biggest weakness of the Chiefs for an otherwise terrific team is their run defense. The Browns are third in the league on the ground, so their best chance is to run the football. Unfortunately, Cleveland's problem is on the other side of the ball.

The Browns' 22nd-ranked pass defense is no match for what Mahomes and the Chiefs can deliver. If a limited Roethlisberger can light them up for 501 yards, then the Chiefs will have a field day.

Unless Kansas City turns the ball over like Pittsburgh, Cleveland is in for a long day.

This is likely to be a track meet.

Take the Chiefs, give the points, and go with the over.

Kansas City 41, Cleveland 30
