AC has been handicapping football and basketball for over 20 years. He created this website in 2012 with the premise of offering high value at an affordable price. You shouldn't have to break the bank in order to get a full season's worth of good, honest sports picks analysis. Not everyone bets $500 - $1,000 per game. He views sporting events as investment opportunities and takes an approach to handicapping as a money manager would to a stock portfolio, using sound fundamental and money management techniques that incorporate each selection in terms of the entire bankroll, thus the slogan "The Sports Investor". He has one set of plays using the "unit" system. Most picks are 1 Unit with approximately 15 - 20% at 2 Units, and plays everyone of them himself. If you lose, he loses too. Fortunately, that doesn't happen often, as he has shown a profit over the past 2 football seasons. No triple diamond, 1000 star play of the decade, or any other gimmicks that promise unrealistic expectations you will find at many other places. He has posted in several sports forums and is monitored by an independent service. He is also the author of "The Winning Edge", which covers the fundamentals of football and basketball, money management, and tips for selecting a handicapper, as well as several articles involving the sports investment industry. Rating System
AC uses the Unit system to rate each play. Each Unit is 1% of your bankroll 1 Unit: Normal Play (approximately 80% of plays) 2 Units: Best Bet (approximately 20% of plays) 3 Units: Top Play (usually about 3 per season)
 
Money Management
Just as important as picking winners, but most overlooked by bettors, is managing your bankroll. Perhaps it is the human nature of instant gratification and short term thinking, or it just isn’t fun. Either way, it is the main reason bettors lose over the long term. Some of these pitfalls are: • No plan • Lack of will power and discipline • The aforementioned short term thinking process • The” Lock” that can’t lose • Bet too much per game, especially during winning and losing streaks • Failure to only use “straight” bets, vs. teasers, parlays, etc. • Bet on “tilt” • Drink while betting • The gamblers fallacy Here are some suggestions to help you manage your bankroll more efficiently • Think like a star (Vegas Insider) and not like a square (Joe public that loses 95% of the time) • Look at betting more like investing (Long term perspective) vs gambling “ short term perspective” • Establish a bank roll strictly for sports investing • Employ the Unit system using “flat” bets, meaning the same amount per unit, each and every game. Ideally, each unit should be around 1.5% of your bank roll, never risking more than 3 units on a single sporting event. Approximately 20% of the plays will be 2 or 3 unit games, with the rest 1 unit plays. Try to avoid adjusting unit size during the season. • Remember, building a bankroll is a grind, not a sprint
