One of the most intriguing games in college football this weekend looks like it will be one of the biggest mismatches of the week when unbeaten Houston visits a UAB team that is easily one of the worst in all of the FBS. Houston opened as a 27.5-point favorite on Bodog’s NCAA football odds.

This could be intriguing only because of one player: Houston senior quarterback Case Keenum. The Heisman candidate already set the NCAA career total yardage mark earlier this season, and in last Thursday’s 73-34 destruction of Rice, Keenum threw an incredible nine touchdown passes (and 534 yards) to pass former Texas Tech star Graham Harrell for the most career touchdown passes in FBS history with 139.

Keenum actually started that game slowly, throwing an interception and having a fumble returned for a touchdown in the first quarter in heavy rain as Rice built a 17-7 lead. UH’s Patrick Edwards also had a huge game, with 318 yards receiving and five touchdowns. Thanks to Keenum (3,244 yards, 32 TDs), No. 14 Houston (8-0, 4-0 C-USA) has the nation’s No. 1 total, passing and scoring offense (52.3 ppg). The Cougars’ average margin of victory is more than 27 points a game. And UAB is among the worst defensive teams in the country, as Rice was.  Keenum seems a lock this week to become the NCAA’s all-time leader in career passing yards, needing fewer than 300 yards to move into first place on that list.

UAB (1-7, 1-4) allows nearly 285 yards passing and more than 35 points per game and just got stomped by an average Marshall team, 59-14. Thundering Herd QB A.J. Graham, in only his third career start, threw for five touchdowns, so think what Keenum might do. And the Blazers can’t score either, ranking No. 116 in the nation in points per game at 14.9.

The Blazers lead the all-time series 4-3 but the teams haven’t played since 2008.
