Week 2 NFL thoughts.

Just a couple tid-bits on last Week 2 NFL.

We opened with a wild one in KANSAS CITY as the CHIEFS literally, fumbled the game away to the DENVER BRONCOS. Peyton Manning did exactly what he has done against the AFC West since he arrived, beat them, moving his record to 19-1 SU. Alex Smith has a pair of red-zone INTs, and Jamaal Charles had a pair of costly fumbles. The real shocker was that the Chiefs even had a chance to win this game with their 5 turnovers. They have a lot of time to get their act together before facing the GREEN BAY PACKERS on Monday night football.

The PITTSBURGH STEELERS had extra time to prepare for the SAN FRANCISCO 49ers off a short week. Big Ben Roethlisberger shredded the San Fran secondary to the tune of 369 yards and 3 TDs. WR Antonio Brown amassed 195 yards and back-up RB DeAngelo Williams scored 3 touchdowns as the Steelers raced out to a 29-3 half-time lead. Looks like HC Mike Tomlin saw enough missed FGs last week as the 2pt conversion was in full effect at Heinz Field. I did cash the Steelers as my Top 10* play. I saw the extra prep time, short week and travel for the Niners, and knew this was going to be a blow-out. Nothing positive to say about San Fran here. A couple 4th quarter TD passes by Colin Kaepernick when you are down 29-10 is pure garbage time stats as far as I am concerned. The Niners hit the road again to face the ARIZONA CARDINALS while the Steelers square off against the ST. LOUIS RAMS.

In what could be viewed as the upset of the day, the TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS held off a late NEW ORLEANS SAINTS rally as 10pt underdogs. What can we say here? Both teams off losses. Tampa schooled at home by another rookie QB. How would their rookie QB do in the dome where the Saints had won 20 straight just a short time ago? Well DREW BREES was held under 300 yards and the Overall #1 NFL pick in the draft, JAMEIS WINSTON tossed a late 2Q TD pass to VINCENT JACKSON as the Bucs took a 10-7 lead into the locker room. Brees appeared to have suffered an injury when sacked by DE JACQUIES SMITH. Smith got to Brees 3 times on the day. The Saints to see another division foe, the CAROLINA PANTHERS next week, while Tampa takes on the HOUSTON TEXANS.

Well. Everyone thought the BUFFALO BILLS would knock off the NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS after their big win over the Colts in week 1. I didn't think that as we cashed with the Patriots. TOM BRADY has owned the Bills with a record now of 22-2 SU. REX RYAN is no stranger to facing New England but had no answers. The score was 37-13 entering the 4th quarter before TYROD TAYLOR tossed some meaningless TDs. The Patriots are huge home favorites over the JACKSONVILLE JAGUARS, while the Bills head to South Beach to face the MIAMI DOLPHINS.

The DALLAS COWBOYS suffered another brutal injury as they lose QB TONY ROMO until at least Thanksgiving. BRANDON WEEDEN will look to manage the club in his absence, though they did trade for BILLS back-up MATT CASSELL for depth. The PHILADELPHIA EAGLES are now 0-2 and the Iggles faithful just might be tired of CHIP KELLY now. DEMARCO MURRAY has been invisible the last 2 weeks and Philly has to go face a very tough NEW YORK JETS defense. A tall task considering how inept their offense has been in 6 of their 8 quarters of football this year. The Cowboys are home to face the ATLANTA FALCONS.

The GREEN BAY PACKERS have waited months for their pay-back, and finally got it at home beating the SEATTLE SEAHAWKS by 10pt on Sunday night. Seattle was off a tough road loss to the STL RAMS, and in my eyes, are having some OL issues. They traded their starting C for a TE who has yet to contribute. JIMMY GRAHEM is an awesome talent, but he does not fit this system. The hold-out of KAM CHANCELLOR is not helping the situation. AARON RODGERS had a pair of TD passes while RUSSELL WILSON did everything he could to will his team to the win. The Packers on on MNF vs the KANSAS CITY CHIEFS while Seattle finally gets home to face the lowly CHICAGO BEARS.

The week ended with the soaring NEW YORK JETS cashing as a nice dog besting the INDIANAPOLIS COLTS 20-7 on Monday night. The Jets defense are a turn-over machine, forcing 10 already. ANDREW LUCK has now looked very ordinary his last 2 games vs the Bills and Jets. The Colts OL woes will continue to plague them. FRANK GORE and ANDRE JOHNSON have had great seasons and careers. But this is a young mans game. The Colts should win this division based on having Luck behind center. But they can be a .500 with what we have seen so far. The Jets are home against the PHILADELPHIA EAGLES while the Colts play the TENNESSEE TITANS.

Real short notes

CAM NEWTON led the CAROLINA PATHERS to a win over the HOUSTON TEXANS.

The WASHINGTON REDSKINS upset the ST LOUIS RAMS in what many thought was a cake-walk for JEFF FISHERS team. The Redskins out-played the MIAMI DOLPHINS in Week 1 and made the plays to win the game in Week 2.

LARRY FITZGERALD caught 3 TDs from CARSON PALMER and the ARIZONA CARDINALS throttled who could be, the worse team in the league. The CHICAGO BEARS lost their QB JAY CUTLER who was injured trying to make a tackle on an INT return.

ANDY DAULTON (3 TDs) has yet to have a turn-over and the CINCINNATI BENGALS beat the SAN DIEGO CHARGERS. RB GIOVANNI BERNARD went for 123 yards on the ground. PHILLIP RIVERS couldn't pull it out late.

What do you know? JOHNNY FOOTBALL comes through and beats the reigning Heisman Trophy Winner. JOHNNY MANZIEL tossed a pair of long-bombs to TRAVIS BENJAMIN, who also returned a punt for a TD as the CLEVELAND BROWNS raced out to a 21-0 half-time lead. MARCUS MARIOTA had a solid game with 2 TDs and no INTs. But if you lose 3 fumbles on the road, chances are you are going to lose the game.

The JACKSONVILLE JAGUARS beat the MIAMI DOLPHINS. Another home dog coming though. Jags K JASON MEYERS booted 3 FGs, including the game-winner with 40 seconds left. RYAN TANNEHILL threw for 356 and 2 TDs in the losing cause. BLAKE BORTLES was good tossing 2 TDs. Rookie RB TJ YELDON rushed for 70 yards.

The OAKLAND RAIDERS were led to victory by the cool and calm DEREK CARR. Carr took his team 80 yards with a little of 2 minutes left for the game winning TD over the BALTIMORE RAVENS. Ravens now 0-2. JOE FLACCO tossed for 384 and veteran WR STEVE SMITH had 10 catches for 150 yards. The loss of TERRELL SUGGS is a big glow for the Ravens.

Oh the NEW YORK GIANTS. What to say here? Another epic collapse with minutes left in a game. MATT RYAN and JULIO JONES had their way with the Giants secondary as the ATLANTA FALCONS came from behind to beat ELI MANNING and ODELL BECKHAM.

The MINNESOTA VIKINGS recovered from the MNF loss by beating the DETROIT LIONS. ADRIAN PETERSON hasn't lost a step and TEDDY BRIDGEWATER was 14-18. MATT STAFFORD couldnt' get to GOLDEN TATE and CALVIN JOHNSON enough. The Lions poor rushing attack was led by Stafford (20 yards). If your lead foot QB is your leading rusher, you are in big trouble.
