Well, we have all seen that the NFL has released it's All-Pro team out there, some, I agree with, some are sketchy, and there are some changes I believe should be made overall to the whole scheme. The All-Pro team is supposed to be made up of the players who are simply the best at their positions.
Bottom line.
For many decades we have seen these "All-Pro teams" put together, but I think they have kept pretty old fashioned in the way they are set up. When the voters fill out their ballots, they are staying with the old traditional way they have done it for years. There have been many changes, some good and some bad in the NFL since the 70s.
Not banging on FBs, but can we really name more than 3, that we really know? Get back to me on that one. The game has changed, it's not the run the ball 60 times a game, old school game it was in the 1970s. In the modern NFL, 3 WRs is much more the norm, and a FB, isn't always used nearly as much as it used to be. I get having a FB on the team reminds a lot of the "old schoolers" of when football was smashing it down the throats of opponents, and not 4.3 burners up and down the field. But, times they are a changin.'
With grabbing a spot on the team, which is so much more prestigious than making the stupid overrated Pro-Bowl, because its not a popularity contest, which I have always hated. I look at what is a more accurate sign of a player's value during that season.
So I will be using 3 WRs in my All-Pro team, which definitely reflects better as to how more NFL offenses line up on Sundays. I'll still keep the FB for traditional reasons, but honestly, All-Pro, not really to me. But granted, it still remains a position that someone seemingly has to play better than everyone else.
Since we are making this change to my list, I will also be adding an additional DB to the All-Pro defensive team, while removing a linebacker. To make this whole thing fair, get me? Because the fact is, with the NFL style, playing more DBs is also much more common, and if I'm lining up 3 wideouts on my offense, I better be ready to counter with more DBs, c'mon now!! So we are going to play a nickel coverage as well.
