But for a break here and there, the University of Miami would be unbeaten and
probably a Top-10 ranked team in Al Golden’s first year as the
Hurricanes’ coach. As it is, UM is 4-3 overall and 2-2 in the ACC but still with
a shot at the Coastal Division championship heading into Thursday night’s ESPN
game against Virginia. Miami opened as a 14-point favorite on Bodog’s NCAA
football odds. Virginia (4-3, 1-2) is just hoping to reach its first bowl game since 2007.
The Cavs enter off a 28-14 home loss to North Carolina State on Saturday. The
Cavaliers have employed a two-quarterback rotation this season with sophomore
Michael Rocco and freshman David Watford, and
it was mostly ineffective against the Wolfpack. Coach Mike London said this week that Watford’s reps will be
scaled back going forward, so it appears Rocco is the main guy. Watford led
Virginia’s offense for nine series against N.C. State and completed 4 of 16
passes for 89 yards, one touchdown and three interceptions. On the season,
Watford has completed 42.3 percent of his passes and thrown for 346 yards, three
touchdowns and four interceptions. Rocco was 7-for-19 for 36 yards and a score
on Saturday. All three of Miami’s losses came down to the final minute, and UM has bounced
back from a crushing loss at Virginia Tech with impressive wins at North
Carolina and Saturday against then-No. 22 Georgia Tech, 24-7. The Miami defense
held the high-octane Yellow Jackets more than 300 yards and nearly 36 points
below their season averages entering the game. QB Jacory Harris
had been having a great senior season but was only 8-for-23 for 140
yards with a pick for UM against the Jackets. Miami holds a 5-3 edge all-time in this series but lost last year 24-19 in a
game in which Harris was knocked out with a separated shoulder. UM had five
turnovers in the loss. The underdog has covered in six of the past seven
meetings. Get your NCAA football odds and NCAA football team props at Bodog: Home of experiencing the
