Maybe when you consider betting on Super Bowl action, you want to take into
account the close calls the two teams - the Indianapolis Colts and New Orleans
Saints - have sustained this season. If you recall (and it wasn't long ago),
they both had undefeated record until very deep into the season; in fact, the
Saints won their first 13 games of the 2009 campaign, while the Colts won their
first 14. That doesn't mean everything was smooth sailing for them prior to
that, though.
Indianapolis is in a precarious position as their backers are laying points at
BetUS betting on Super Bowl play. They snuck by Jacksonville by a 14-12 score in
the season opener at home, and in the season's second game they were fortunate
to be able to get by the Miami Dolphins 27-23 while possessing the ball for only
15 minutes the entire game.
Against New England at Lucas Oil Stadium the Colts were clearly the
beneficiaries of poor judgment on a fourth-down call by Bill Belichick, which
helped them complete a furious comeback to win 35-34. In all, there were seven
Indianapolis wins that came by four points or less, and at least a few of them
could have easily gone the other way.
Something like that may point things toward the Saints, especially since in the
odds betting on Super
Bowl action, they are a 5-point favorite in the game. You may want to think
long and hard about whether if this game were being played on a neutral field
during the regular season, the Colts would be favored by that much. In fact,
would they be favored at all? Does the experience of playing in the Super Bowl
and winning it mean the difference in shaping the line that dictates how you bet
on Super Bowl play?.
