No. 10 South Carolina (4-0, 2-0 SEC) will apparently have Stephen Garcia as its starting quarterback even though Garcia threw four interceptions and was benched in last week’s 21-3 victory over Vanderbilt. But certainly Steve Spurrier could go to Connor Shaw quickly if Garcia starts making mistakes in this one.

Meanwhile, USC running back Marcus Lattimore is in the Heisman conversation, having rushed for 611 yards and eight touchdowns this season. He's ranked third nationally in yards per game rushing. But Auburn had his number last year in those two meetings as Lattimore combined for only 30 carries and 117 yards and one touchdown. This year, Auburn's defense is ranked 112th of 120 NCAA teams in rushing defense.

Auburn (3-1, 1-0) bounced back from a loss to Clemson two weeks ago with an OK effort in beating Florida Atlantic 30-14 last week. The Owls came in ranked worst in the FBS in total offense, averaging 92.5 yards, but managed 307 yards against a bad Auburn defense. Lattimore is the best back in the SEC, but Auburn’s Michael Dyer isn’t far behind, as he has rushed for 426 yards and six scores.

USC is off to its best start since 2001 but has lost six straight in this series and has just one win in 10 all-time meetings with Auburn. The Tigers are 8-2 against ranked teams under Gene Chizik and 1-1 road games against ranked teams. Auburn is 18-2 when leading at halftime under Chizik and has won 12 straight.
