The schedule certainly gets no easier for Arizona. The Wildcats, fresh off a beating by Top-10 team Oklahoma State, face another top club when No. 6 Stanford visits Tucson tonight in the Pac-12 opener for both. Stanford opened as 9.5-point favorites on Bodog's NCAA football odds in the latest-starting game on the board tonight.

The Wildcats were pretty much taken to the woodshed by Oklahoma State on Sept. 8 in losing 37-14. OSU scored TDs on its first three possessions and the game was pretty much over from there. Nick Foles had a big night, completing 37 of 51 passes for 398 yards but only one score. The Cats played without star WR Juron Criner, who had an appendectomy. He was the Pac-10's top receiver last season and tied the school record with 11 touchdown catches. As of this writing, he is questionable to get back for this one. So far Arizona’s running game has been non-existent – the Cats had just 41 yards on the ground vs. OSU. Arizona has lost six games in a row against FBS teams.

Stanford (2-0) hasn’t been tested yet this year, beating San Jose State and Duke by a combined score of 101-17. Last week against the Dukies, Heisman favorite Andrew Luck was 20 of 28 for 290 yards and a career-high-tying four touchdowns. It was the Cardinal’s 10th straight win. That’s the second-longest streak in the country behind Auburn.

Under Mike Stoops, Arizona has beaten a ranked team each of his seven seasons in Tucson. Overall the Wildcats are 9-22 against ranked squads in his tenure, and 3-10 against teams in the Top 10. In a series that dates back to 1979, Arizona leads the all-time series 14-12. However, Stanford has won three of the last four games. Last year the Cardinal won 42-17 with Luck throwing for 293 yards and two scores. Stepfan Taylor scored two of his four touchdowns in the second half to help the Cardinal win in the first meeting when both teams were ranked.
