It’s really hard to know how good Andrew Luck and Stanford are so far this season. Yes, the Cardinal are unbeaten and No. 8 in the BCS standings, but they have played probably the easiest schedule of any ranked team out there. Stanford faces its first ranked foe tonight when No. 25 Washington visits. The Cardinal opened as 21-point favorites on Bodog’s NCAA football odds.

Everyone presumes either Stanford or Oregon will win the Pac-12 North, but UW (5-1, 3-0) is unbeaten in the conference with those two and can really make a statement here. Although it’s hard to know what to make of the Huskies as well as they were dominated in their lone test so far by Nebraska.

But that Washington offense is clicking, having scored at least 30 points in every game (first time in school history in first six games). Last week, the Huskies scored a season-high 52 in a blowout of Colorado. QB Keith Price is starting to emerge as one of the Pac-12’s best and last week threw for 257 yards and four scores. It was the first time UW reached 50 points in 10 years. It’s also the first time Washington is 3-0 in conference play since 1997.

Stanford has won every game by at least 26 points, but if there’s one concern it’s that opponents tend to stay close for a half. Last week, Stanford led Washington State 10-7 at the break before Luck tossed four touchdown passes in a 44-14 rout. Teams like Duke and Arizona also hung close before being blown away. The Cardinal are No. 5 in the nation in scoring offense (45.8) and scoring defense (11.2) Stanford leads the nation with a 14-game winning streak.

The Cardinal have won three straight and five of the last six games in this series, including last year's contest in Seattle, 41-0. Luck was just average in that one, throwing for 191 yards with one TD and one pick, but the Cardinal held UW to 107 yards of offense.
