After a long offseason of recruiting and training camps, college football is finally back!

With NCAA football betting kicking off with a fully-loaded schedule right out of the gate in Week 1, there will be no shortage of betting opportunities for college football fans.

Here’s a look at some of the weekend’s most anticipated matchups.

Oregon State Beavers at TCU Horned Frogs

Coming off an undefeated regular season in 2009, the TCU Horned Frogs enter the 2010 season ranked 6th in the country. They’ve got National Championship aspirations, but in order to run the table in the regular season again this year, they’ll have to get through perennial Pac-10 contender Oregon State in their season opener at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington.

Oregon State (also in the top 25, currently ranked 24th) came within just one game of winning the Pac-10 title last season, but fell just short in the Civil War against rival Oregon. The Beavers were 8-4 in the regular season last year SU, and 7-4 ATS. Oregon State showed plenty of bark as an underdog last season with a record of 5-2 ATS as a dog.

Jacquizz Rodgers is one of the most electrifying running backs in college football, and will once again be the focal point of the Beavers' attack along with his brother, wide receiver James Rodgers. Redshirt-sophomore Ryan Katz takes over at quarterback, and will be tested early against one of the nation’s stingiest defenses in TCU.

TCU has been one of the most consistent moneymakers in the country over the last two regular seasons. With a 10-2 SU and 8-3 ATS record in 2008 followed by a 12-0 SU record with an 8-3 ATS record in 2009, bettors that have followed the Horned Frogs have cashed in nicely. Will they continue their dominance in 2010?

Senior quarterback Andy Dalton will do his part. TCU’s defense received most of the national acclaim last season while Dalton’s offense quietly finished in the top 10 in the nation in both total offense and scoring. The offense has stayed largely intact, and could potentially be even better this season.

While there were a few losses on the defensive side of the ball, the Horned Frogs are rich with talent, and should be able to patch up their holes without skipping a beat.

LSU Tigers at North Carolina Tar Heels

The Georgia Dome in Atlanta plays host to the other matchup between two top-25 teams being played this Saturday in No. 21 LSU vs. No. 18 North Carolina. Both teams will be looking for improved offensive production in 2010, and a win to start off the season would be nice as well.

LSU’s 2009 regular season campaign (9-3 SU, 5-6-1 ATS) was a clear improvement over their 2008 season (7-5 SU, 2-9 ATS), but it still left much to be desired considering the high hopes the team must live up to in Louisiana.

Bettors are also hoping that LSU shows some improvement; even in the season they made their National Title run in 2007, the Tigers were just 4-7-1 ATS in the regular season, giving them a painful 11-22-2 ATS record over the last three seasons.
