The NHL season is in full swing, and hockey bettors are looking anywhere they can to find edges in an effort to one-up the bookmakers. Many players in the league have established track records and it’s by looking at their history that we can begin to find holes in the oddsmakers’ lines. Here is a look at some stats and trends worth keeping an eye on when breaking down the board this week, and in the weeks ahead. The over is 13-2-2 in the last two days. Oddsmakers have set a total of 5 for the lone matchup on Monday’s card, a game in which the Winnipeg Jets will host the San Jose Sharks. Based on the Sharks’ recent trends, one might be inclined to expect a low-scoring contest. The under is 8-1-2 in the Sharks’ last 11 road games, and 4-1-1 in their last six games overall. But it’s been the opposite trend for the Jets. The over is 5-0-1 in Winnipeg’s last six contests, and 3-0-1 in their last four home games. The over is also 6-1-1 in their last eight games against Western Conference opponents. The venue has made a big difference when these teams meet with regards to the number of goals scored. In four meetings between these teams over the last two seasons, the over is 2-2, but the over is also 1-0 in their meetings in Winnipeg, compared with a 1-2 mark in San Jose. In those three meetings in San Jose, a total of 11 goals were scored, including four by Winnipeg. In the lone game in Winnipeg, a total of nine goals were scored, with the Jets accounting for five of them. The Jets figure to get a boost from forward Bryan Little in this one. He enters Monday’s contest riding a six-game point streak, during which he as accounted for three goals and nine points. Captain Andrew Ladd also has four multi-point efforts in his last five games. The Montreal Canadiens are 4-1 in their last five meetings with the Tampa Bay Lightning. The Lightning are also just 2-6 in their last eight games in Montreal. While both teams enter hot – Tampa Bay is 5-1 in its last six games, and Montreal is 6-0 in its last six games – this matchup has belonged to the Canadiens in recent years. The day of the week also plays to Montreal’s advantage, as the Habs are 14-3 in their last 17 games played on a Tuesday. They’re also 18-6 in their last 24 games played on two day’s rest. They’ve also played extremely well inside their division, going 35-16 in their last 51 games against Atlantic Division opponents. Are you looking for the best SPORTS PICKS in the business?
