Thanks to the St. Louis Cardinals’ 3-2 win in Game 1 of the World Series at home on Wednesday night, already the odds are stacked against the Texas Rangers winning their first Fall Classic. But those odds will get even worse if the Rangers can’t take Game 2 tonight. And Texas is a -122 favorite on Bodog’s MLB odds with live betting available.

The Rangers offense lit up Detroit in the ALCS, but Texas was 0 for 5 with runners in scoring position Wednesday after rolling up a .302 average (19 for 63) in those situations against the Tigers. In the Texas-Detroit series, four of the six games had a combined 10 or more runs. Game 6 featured 20 runs.

The winner of Game 1 has captured seven of the last eight titles, 12 of the last 14 and 19 of the last 23. In addition, the team hosting Game 1 has won 20 of the last 25 World Series. Last year, the Rangers lost Game 1 to San Francisco and went on to lose the series in five.

So now the weight is on Rangers starter Colby Lewis tonight. He allowed eight hits and four runs in 5 2/3 innings against the Tigers in his lone ALCS start. But even with that iffy start, he is 4-1 with a 2.37 ERA in six career postseason starts dating to last year. And Lewis has been much better on the road this season. While compiling a 5-5 mark at home, he gave up 22 homers in 92 2/3 innings. On the road, he was 9-5, permitting only 13 homers in 107 2/3 inning with an ERA more than two runs lower than at home. He has made both his starts this postseason on the road.

St. Louis counters with Jaime Garcia. He had a dreadful 7.27 ERA in two NLCS starts. But he is much better at home. During the regular season, he had a 2.55 ERA in Busch Stadium while having a 4.61 ERA on the road. And in his past five Busch Stadium starts, he is 3-1 with a 2.29 ERA.
