Perhaps Rich Rodriguez wasn’t the problem at Michigan. After
all, the Wolverines got off to quick starts under their former coach in both
2009 (4-0) and last year (5-0) before going on a slide once Michigan hit the
meat of its Big Ten schedule. It’s certainly too early to make any judgments on new coach Brady
Hoke’s 2011 Wolverines, but they enter Saturday’s home game vs. Purdue
having played their first true quality opponent and losing two Saturdays ago by
two touchdowns before a bye this past weekend. So is another slide in order
after a 6-0 start? Michigan opened as a 14-point favorite on Bodog’s NCAA
football odds vs. the Boilers for this Saturday’s game in Ann Arbor. This will be the sixth home game for No. 17 Michigan (6-1, 2-1 Big Ten)
already. Two weeks ago, the Wolverines went down the road to East Lansing and
lost 28-14 to Michigan State. The Spartans seem to know how to handle Michigan
QB Denard Robinson as they held the Heisman candidate to 123
yards passing and 42 rushing. MSU clinched the game when Robinson threw an interception and Isaiah
Lewis returned it 39 yards for a touchdown with 4:31 left. Robinson is
the best running QB in the country but has struggled throwing, completing 53.9
percent of his passes this season (76 of 141) for 1,253 yards, 11 touchdowns and
10 interceptions. Michigan can’t afford another loss if it hopes to win the
Legends Division. Purdue (4-3, 2-1) is still in contention in the Big Ten’s Leaders Division
with Penn State leading at 4-0 in conference play. The Boilers beat ranked
Illinois last week 21-14. Quarterback Caleb TerBush, who was
third string at one point, had a brilliant first half completing 12 of 16 passes
for 145 yards and two touchdowns. It was the Boilers’ first win over a ranked
team since 2009. The Boilermakers, who have yet to win back-to-back games this year, look for
a second straight victory in Michigan Stadium, a feat that no Purdue team has
pulled off in the Big House since 1965-66. The Wolverines outscored the
Boilermakers 13-3 in the second half to leave West Lafayette with a 27-16
victory and snap Purdue's two-game winning streak in the series on Nov. 13 last
season, however. Get your NCAA football odds and NCAA football team props at Bodog: Home of experiencing the
