It’s all on the line Saturday in Madison as Penn State visits Wisconsin, with the winner set to play Michigan State in the inaugural Big Ten Championship Game on Dec. 3 in Indianapolis. The Badgers, the preseason favorites in the Legends Division, opened as 15-point favorites on Bodog’s NCAA football odds.

The No. 19 Nittany Lions (9-2, 6-1) got the first win of the post-Joe Paterno era last week, a 20-14 upset at Ohio State. Stephfon Green ran for two touchdowns and the Nittany Lions held Ohio State scoreless in the second half (actually neither team scored after halftime) as PSU clinched at least a share of the Legends. It was the school’s first win under someone other than Paterno since 1965. PSU has the No. 3 scoring defense in the country.

No. 12 Wisconsin (9-2, 5-2) is about a minute from being unbeaten and in the national championship conversation. The Badgers have won three straight after back-to-back last-second losses. Montee Ball continued his case as Big Ten Player of the Year last week in a 28-17 win over Illinois by rushing 38 times for 224 yards and three touchdowns. He has at least two scores in every game this season and is the fifth player in FBS history – and first in Big Ten history -- with 30 TDs in a season (25 rushing, one shy of the Big Ten mark). The national record for TDs is 39 by Barry Sanders for Oklahoma State in 1998. With 1,466 rushing yards this year, Ball ranks second in the nation by just two yards.

Penn State and Wisconsin haven’t played since 2008. PSU is 1-5 ATS in its past six as a road dog. Badgers are 7-0-1 ATS in past eight as a home favorite of more than 10.5 points. The favorite has covered in the past six meetings of this series.
