Oklahoma State looks to stay atop the Big 12 Conference and keep its national championship hopes alive tonight against a Kansas State club that enters licking its wounds but still in the hunt for the Big 12 title. The Pokes opened as 21-point favorites on Bodog’s NCAA football odds.

No. 3 OSU (8-0, 5-0 Big 12) continue to be an offensive machine and rank second in the country in averaging 49.9 points per game. The Cowboys have scored at least 30 points in every game and went over 50 for the fourth time this season in last week’s 59-24 home win over Baylor. Joseph Randle set career-highs by running for 152 yards and four touchdowns and Justin Blackmon matched his career best with 13 catches for 172 yards and two scores for OSU. Oklahoma State did allow 622 total yards – it has the No. 100 defense in the country — but forced five turnovers.

This is just the second time that OSU has started a season 8-0. The other time was in 1945, when they finished the season 9-0, won the Sugar Bowl and were ranked fifth in the final poll. This is OSU’s final home game before a season-ender against Oklahoma that will likely be the biggest game in the history of the Bedlam series and for a spot in the BCS title game for the Cowboys, who should move up to No. 2 in the BCS standings Sunday because No. 1 LSU and No. 2 Alabama also play tonight.

No. 17 KSU (7-1, 4-1) was one of the nation’s biggest surprises but was rudely awakened last week in getting blown out 58-17 at home vs. Oklahoma. The Sooners threw for 520 yards and held the Cats to 58; KSU is among the nation’s worst passing team. OU had 690 yards of total offense against what had been the Big 12’s top defense.

Oklahoma State leads the all-time series with Kansas State, 35-22. The Pokes have won three straight and four of the past five in this series. A win would give OSU three victories Top 25 opponents in the same season for the first time since 1976. This is the first time these two have met with both ranked.
