The Ohio State offense was nothing short of wretched in last
week’s 24-6 loss at Miami, which knocked the Buckeyes out of the AP Top 25 for
the first time in seven years. OSU had been ranked for 103 straight weeks, the
longest streak in the nation. So to spur that offense for Saturday’s home game
vs. Colorado, coach Luke Fickell is turning to freshman Braxton Miller
as his starting quarterback. OSU is a 17-point favorite on Bodog’s NCAA football odds. OSU (2-1) set forward passing back several decades vs. the Hurricanes, completing all of four passes for 35 yards. Senior Joe Bauserman started that game, as he did the first two, and was 2 of 14 passing for 13 yards against Miami. Miller was 2 of 4 passing a with an interception and a lost fumble. For the season, Bauserman was had completed 30 of 60 pass attempts for 365 yards with four touchdowns and no interceptions. Miller, who sat out against Toledo in Week 2 with a minor injury, completed 8
of 12 passes for 130 yards and a touchdown in the season opener Sept. 3 against
Akron. He will be the first freshman to start since a guy named Terrelle
Pryor did so in Week 4 of the 2008 season. Miller brings a running
element that Bauserman doesn’t. Look for OSU to rely heavily on the running game
that totaled 174 yards vs. Miami. Colorado (1-2) opened with losses at Hawaii and in overtime against Cal in
the Buffs’ Pac-12 opener before beating Colorado State 28-14 last week. The CU
offense is basically a two-man show in QB Tyler Hansen and RB
Rodney Stewart. Against Colorado State, Hansen threw for two
scores and ran for two while Stewart rushed 19 times for 98 yards to go with
seven catches for 93 yards. The Buffs have been outscored 40-20 in the first
half so far this season. Get the best NCAA football odds and player props at the Web’s gaming
