The Detroit Red Wings are off to a hot start to the season, and they'll look
to keep that momentum on Saturday night as they travel to Washington to play the
Capitals in a potential preview of the Stanley Cup final. The Red Wings, of course, are no stranger to the Stanley Cup final, having reached that series multiple times in recent years. The Capitals, though, have only reached the final once in franchise history – when they lost to the Red Wings back in 1998. On the Stanley Cup
odds board at the Bodog Sportsbook the Red Wings are at 12/1 to win the
championship this season, with Washington at 8/1 to finally claim the title. Detroit won its season opener 5-3 at home against Ottawa, then rolled to
three more wins in a row over Colorado (3-0), Vancouver (2-0), and Minnesota
(3-2) before heading into their weekend matchups against Columbus (on Friday)
and Washington. The Red Wings had five days off after beating the Wild last Saturday,
with Ian White, Jiri Hudler, and Johan
Franzen providing the team's markers in that win. Jimmy
Howard faced only 14 shots on the night, allowing two goals. Washington is 6-0-0 on the season after getting past the Flyers by a 5-2
score on Thursday. Detroit has had a slight edge on Washington recently, going 3-2 in their last
five meetings including a 3-2 home victory as a -160 favorite when they played
back in March. Howard was between the pipes for Detroit in that game, while
Michal Neuvirth started in nets for Washington. Get all your NHL odds at
