In a potential preview of the Eastern Conference final, the Washington
Capitals and Philadelphia Flyers will collide this Tuesday. Bet on the NHL
match up with Bodog's online sportsbook. There are some potential signs of trouble ahead, however. Rookie netminder
Sergei Bobrovsky has been a pleasant surprise this season, but
he’s showing signs of wear and tear. He’d lost five of his last seven games
heading into the Dallas game—while getting pulled from another—but made 28 saves
in the overtime win. Bobrovsky is fighting for his job now, though, and if he
can’t cut it the team will have to turn to backup Brian
Boucher. Philly owns one of the most balanced attacks in the NHL. Five players have
already scored 20 goals this season (Jeff Carter, Danny
Briere, Claude Giroux, Mike Richards
and Scott Hartnell) while three more have a realistic shot at
joining the club. Opponents have a ton of trouble slowing the Flyers because
there aren’t one or two stars they can focus on to shut down. The Flyers (44-19-8) have rebounded from a three-game losing streak to open the month. Since then, Philly is 4-0-2, collecting 10 of a possible 12 points. The Flyers have been doing the Cardiac Kids routine, playing five straight games decided by a single goal—including a 3-2 overtime win against the Dallas Stars on Saturday. Washington (42-21-10) beat New Jersey 3-0 on Saturday night, improving to
10-0-1 in its past 11 games. The most inspiring part of the run has been the
reemergence of Alex Ovechkin as a dominant force up front. Ovie was criticized throughout the season after falling off from his
superstar numbers, but the forward has been turning on the jets down the
stretch. Unfortunately, none of that will matter on Tuesday night, as he'll sit
out the contest to rest an undisclosed nagging injury. The Caps haven't set a
timetable for Ovechkin's return to the lineup. With 7/1 odds of
winning the Stanley Cup, compared to Philly's 6/1 odds, the Capitals will
hope that they get their star back in the lineup soon. In the meantime, however,
they'll have to settle for winning games on their own. Think they can pull it
