Will the Vancouver Canucks finally be able to reach the rank of Stanley Cup
Champion when they play on the road in Boston against the Bruins in Game 6 of
the final on Monday night? To do so, they'll have to defy the NHL betting odds
for the contest. Oddsmakers at Bodog have the Bruins listed as -135 home favorites for Game 6 on Monday night, with the Canucks the +115 road underdogs, and the total set at five goals. Vancouver took a 3-2 lead in the best-of-seven series on Friday night with a
1-0 home win in Game 5. Maxim Lapierre scored the lone goal in
the contest, beating Bruins netminder Tim Thomas four minutes
in the third period. Thomas gave up one goal on 25 shots in Game 5, and despite a 2-3 record in
the series has now allowed just six goals through five games of the Stanley Cup
final. Canucks counterpart Roberto Luongo bounced back from losses
in Games 3 and 4 to post a 31-save shutout in Game 5. Luongo also shut out the
Bruins in Game 1 of the series, but he surrendered 14 goals in three games
between those performances. Luongo's inconsistency makes him a unlikely choice for playoff MVP even if
the Canucks win the series. The Sedin twins have also played themselves out of
the running for the Conn Smythe Trophy, combining for just two points so far
against the Bruins. Ryan Kesler has also struggled with just
one point so far in the Cup final. That could open the door for Thomas to take home the Conn Smythe Trophy win
or lose; a player on the losing team last won that award back in 2003, when
goalie Jean-Sebastien Giguere turned the trick for the
Ducks. Puck drop for Monday night's game is set for 8:00 pm ET. Find the latest odds
