This year’s Western Conference
semifinal between San Jose and Detroit is looking rather familiar to last
year’s. In 2010, the Sharks won the first three games only to see the Wings put
up a valiant effort to avoid a sweep before falling in Game 5 in San Jose. Well,
that’s where we are this year as well with tonight’s game as San Jose looks to
finish things off at home and advance to the West Finals for the second year in
a row. Bet on Wings-Sharks Game 5 with Bodog’s NHL odds. Really you had to see Friday’s 4-3 Detroit win coming – that franchise is too proud to be swept, although Detroit did blow a 3-0 lead in Game 4. The game-winner came courtesy of Darren Helm's goal that snapped a 3-3 tie with 1:27 remaining in the third period. Helm was only the second NHL player to score a tiebreaking goal in the last five minutes of the third period in the 2011 playoffs. The other player to do that was the Rangers' Brandon Dubinsky at the 18:21 mark
of period three in Game 3 of New York's first-round series against the Capitals. Nicklas Lidstrom, playing likely his final home game in a
Hall of Fame career, was the star with two goals in Game 4. Lidstrom's first
goal gave him 181 career playoff points, breaking a second-place tie with
Ray Bourque for scoring by a defenseman, and broke an
11th-place tie overall with Jaromir Jagr. Detroit is trying to
become the fourth NHL team to win a series after trailing 3-0. Friday’s win was
just Detroit’s third in the past 14 matchups overall with San Jose and its first
in Motown this year vs. the Sharks. Game 4 was the first in the series where Detroit won more than half the
draws, taking 33 of 64. Through the first three games, the Sharks held the
overall edge, winning 129 of 251 draws for a 51.4 percent success rate. Want the best NHL team and player props? Then Bodog is the place to
