Obviously this game is more important for the Sabres with Carolina breathing down their necks. Henrik Lundqvist stopped all 26 shots for his league-leading 11th shutout. Rangers skaters blocked a whopping 29 shots before the even got to Lundqvist. New York rookie Derek Stepan made history on the Rangers' first trip to Buffalo this season, becoming the fourth NHL player to record a hat trick in his debut as he led the charge in a 6-3 victory. On Saturday, he scored the only goal in the Rangers' victory in Boston, becoming the youngest 20-goal scorer for the Rangers since Alexei Kovalev in 1992-93.

This is the last of four regular season meetings. Other than that opening night Rangers win led by Stepan, New York also won 3-2 in a shootout at home on Nov. 11, and the Sabres won 3-2 at Madison Square Garden on March 1.
