Perhaps the Washington Capitals need to stop taking 2-0 series leads in the NHL Stanley Cup playoffs. After
all, the team is 1-4 in series history when it has taken a 2-0 lead, but the
Caps will head home with their series against the New York Rangers tied 2-2 if
the Blueshirts win a second straight game on Wednesday. This game opened as a
pick’em on Bodog’s NHL odds. New York turned this into a series with a physical 3-2 win on Sunday. Brandon Dubinsky netted the winning goal with 1:39 left by bouncing a shot off defenseman Karl Alzner, goalie Michal Neuvirth, and then the stick of Alex Ovechkin to give New York the win. Three goals was a big deal for the Rangers after they only one goal in two losses at Washington. New York got 35 shots through on Neuvirth after a combined 47 in the opening two
games — 2-1 and 2-0 losses. Look for the Rangers faithful to be all over Washington coach Bruce
Boudreau tonight. He ripped Madison Square Garden and Rangers fans on
Monday: "Well, the one thing, its reputation is far better than the actual
building, I mean, it's nothing. The locker rooms are horrible. The benches are
horrible. There's no room for anything. But the reputation of being in Madison
Square Garden is what makes it famous. Also, our building's a lot louder, too.
So I mean, they can say what they want, but it's not that loud in there." Boudreau also called defenseman Marc Staal's hit on
Mike Green in the second period on Sunday "dirty." Boudreau has
claimed the Rangers are targeting Green’s head after he missed the rest of the
regular season after suffering a concussion on Feb. 25 against the Rangers.
Green averaged 21:56 of ice time in the first three games of the
Capitals-Rangers series and says he's holding up physically. The Rangers outhit Washington 41-29 in Game 3 and the Caps have vowed to come
out hitting tonight. Plus Ovechkin has taken 32 shots on the three games of the
series to date, but has managed to get just nine of them on net. He has had 14
shots blocked and has missed on nine tries. Get the best Stanley Cup playoff odds at Bodog!
