The Red Wings (44-22-9) are trying to secure second place in the Western Conference and having recently put an end to a three-game losing streak with their 4-2 win over the Toronto Maple Leafs on Saturday. Detroit has been very streaky in March, racking up a four-game losing streak, a four-game winning streak, and another three-game loser.

The Wings got a scare on Saturday, as goalie Jimmy Howard was removed from the game after a player landed on him. Considering backup Chris Osgood is already on injured reserve with a sports hernia, Detroit can hardly afford any more losses between the pipes. Howard is listed as day-to-day, and he'll miss Monday's game.

Detroit also needs Johan Franzen and Pavel Datsyuk back in the lineup. Both forwards are listed as day-to-day, but they’ve each missed four straight games. Franzen leads the Wings with 27 goals, while Datsyuk has 57 points in just 52 games.

Chicago (40-26-8) is coming off a 2-1 loss to Anaheim. That defeat came on the heels of back-to-back victories and, with the loss, the Blackhawks are just 3-3-2 in their past eight games.

The slump has coincided with the loss of forward David Bolland. The scrappy center brings a defensive presence to the Blackhawks’ forward lineup, and that’s been noticeably absent since Bolland went down with a concussion on March 9.

On the bright side, the club is getting some fantastic play from Marian Hossa. The veteran winger has notched at least one point in 13 of his last 15 outings, scoring 10 goals and 18 points in that span.
