Tampa Bay tied the best-of-seven Eastern Conference final on Saturday at two games apiece with a 5-3 home victory, but the situation looked bleak for the Lightning in the early going. Boston roared out to a 3-0 first-period lead in the game, with two goals from Patrice Bergeron and another from Michael Ryder. That was it for Bolts starting netminder Dwayne Roloson, who was yanked in favor of backup Mike Smith in the first period.

That wasn't it, however, for the Lightning, who proceeded to put three goals past Bruins netminder Tim Thomas in the second period, scored another on Thomas in the third period, and then got an empty-net marker from Martin St. Louis for good measure and a 5-3 win.

Smith stood on his head for Tampa Bay on Saturday afternoon, stopping all 21 Bruins shots he faced and putting Roloson on notice; if the Bolts' top goaltender stumbles again in Game 5 on Monday then Lightning coach Guy Boucher won't hesitate to go back to Smith.

Teddy Purcell (with two), Sean Bergenheim, and Simon Gagne also scored for Tampa Bay in Game 4, with Gagne providing the winner seven minutes into the third period. Thomas made 32 saves on Saturday but has been inconsistent in the series, blanking the Bolts in Game 3 but giving up 13 goals in the other three contests.

Bodog oddsmakers have the Bruins listed as -155 home favorites for Monday's Game 5, with the Lightning set as the +135 underdogs. The game's total is pegged at 5.5 goals.

Puck drop for Game 5 on Monday is set for 8:00 pm ET, while the teams will head back to Tampa Bay for Game 6 on Wednesday night. Game 7, if necessary, will be played in Boston on Friday night.
