The Boston Bruins will be trying to bounce back from a series-opening loss
when they take on the Vancouver Canucks in Game 2 of the Stanley Cup final in an
NHL betting
matchup on Saturday night. Boston, though, will have to figure out a way to solve Canucks goaltender Roberto Luongo if they are to tie up the best-of-seven set on Saturday. Luongo stopped all 36 shots he faced in Game 1 of the series on Wednesday
night to earn the shutout and pick up the contest's First Star. Luongo was
especially busy in the first period of that game, making 17 saves in the
frame. Bruins netminder Tim Thomas was almost as good on Wednesday,
but he gave up a goal to Canucks forward Raffi Torres in the
final minute of play to get tagged with the loss. Thomas stopped 33 of the 34
Vancouver shots in Game 1. Torres' goal was his third of the postseason. It wasn't all good news for the Canucks on Wednesday night, though, as
defenseman Dan Hamhuis left the game early with an undisclosed
injury. Hamhuis is considered day-to-day heading into Game 2. D-men Christian Ehrhoff and Aaron Rome both
returned to action for the Canucks in Game 1, while forward Manny
Malhotra (facial injuries) was held out of the lineup. The Bodog oddsmakers like Vancouver's chances of extending their series lead
to 2-0 on Saturday, setting them as -200 favorites. The Bruins are +170 road
underdogs for Game 2, with the total for the contest at 5 goals. Puck drop for Saturday is set for 8:00pm ET. The series then shifts to Boston
for Game 3 on Monday and Game 4 on Wednesday before returning to Vancouver for
Game 5 (if necessary) next Friday night. Bet on the Stanley
