In the hunt for both the NFC South crown and a Wild Card berth, the 6-4 Atlanta
Falcons will be looking to avoid taking the 2-8 Minnesota Vikings too lightly on
Sunday afternoon when the teams meet in Georgia in an NFL
betting matchup.
The Falcons missed a chance to take over the
lead in their division with a loss to the rival Saints two weeks ago, but they
bounced back over the weekend with a 23-17 win at home over the Tennessee
Titans.
Still, that victory didn't come easily, as the Titans were down
23-3 midway through the third quarter in that contest before scoring a pair of
TDs to tighten up the final result.
Matt Ryan went 22
of 32 for 316 yards passing for Atlanta in that win, with one touchdown strike
and no interceptions. Tony Gonzalez had the TD reception for
the Falcons, with Michael Turner rushing for 100 yards and a
score on 21 carries.
Atlanta is 4-5-1 against the spread on the season,
while the Vikings enter Week 12 with the same 4-5-1 ATS mark after losing 27-21
at home to the Raiders on Sunday.
Christian Ponder
completed 19 of 33 pass attempts for 211 yards for the Vikings in that loss,
connecting on a pair of TD strikes in the fourth quarter to Percy
Harvin and Kyle Rudolph. Ponder was also picked off
three times on the day.
Adrian Peterson rushed for just
26 yards and a score on six carries against the Raiders before leaving the game
with a sprained ankle. Peterson has run for 872 yards and 11 touchdowns on 186
carries through 10 games.
Minnesota lost 24-17 at home to Atlanta as a
3-point favorite when the teams last met back in December
2008.
