“Passing league?” Maybe. “No defense league” makes more sense. If you’re not putting up 300-plus you’re just not trying. Betting Analysis: No NFL
odds could have predicted this. Linemakers certainly didn’t.
Through two weeks NFL teams have gone OVER the
total 46 times and UNDER in just 16 (the Giants and the Rams have a
tie) games. The general consensus at the end of the NFL lockout was that
offenses would have the most trouble getting back in the groove, however it’s
been completely the opposite. NFL QBs have been sharp, and special teams haven’t
been affected by the new kickoff rules. Although the NFL is clearly entering a new era of elite passing, the shift
should not be this dramatic. We just don’t believe these numbers will last. NFL
teams are going to adjust, and even if they don’t NFL oddsmakers will. Expect
the UNDER to begin to balance out week to week, although props if you bet the
farm on OVERs through Week 1 and 2. *** Bet on NFL totals in
the Bodog Sportsbook!1,502 points have been scored through Week 2, the most after
two weeks in NFL history according the NFL.com. Cam Newton, a
rookie quarterback supposedly from a novice Auburn offense, is putting up
passing numbers he never dreamed of as a Tiger. And Tom Brady
is on pace for 7400-plus yards. The Kansas City Chiefs are the only team that
hasn't gotten the memo.
