The Nevada Wolf Pack ended up in a three-way tie atop the Western Athletic
Conference football standings last season, but they'll only have to contend with
one of those teams this season as they look to win the WAC title outright. Nevada, Hawaii, and Boise State all ended up 7-1 in the WAC in 2010, but with the Broncos off to the Mountain West Conference for this season they'll have one less tough team to worry about in conference play. And the oddsmakers at the Bodog Sportsbook currently have Nevada listed as
the 2/1 favorite on the NCAA football
odds to win the Western Athletic Conference this season after they went 13-1
overall and played in the Kraft Fight Hunger Bowl last year. The Wolf Pack won that bowl game by a score of 20-13 at AT&T Park in San
Francisco over Boston College and ended up at No. 11 in the AP Poll. Hawaii is next at 5/2 odds to win the WAC championship in 2011, with Fresno
State at 3/1, and Louisiana Tech at 6/1. Idaho (14/1), San Jose State (16/1),
Utah State (20/1), and New Mexico State (33/1) fill out the list of WAC
teams. Nevada, though, will have to overcome the loss of starting
quarterback Colin Kaepernick this season; Kaepernick was taken
in the second round of the NFL Draft by the San Francisco 49ers after throwing
for over 3,000 yards and 21 touchdowns last season. Tyler
Lantrip, a senior, will try to fill Kaepernick's shoes for this
season. The Wolf Pack don't get their regular season underway until September 10 when
they start with a tough road game in Oregon. Get all your college
football odds at Bodog.
