Kansas State rode workhorse running back Daniel Thomas to a
bowl berth and a 7-6 record last season, but Thomas is now in the NFL. So who
will emerge as the key guy on a 2011 Wildcats team? KSU is 35/1 to win the Big
12 title this year on Bodog’s NCAA football odds. The main question entering fall camp is at quarterback. Collin Klein,
Justin Tuggle and Sammuel Lamur competed for the job
throughout spring practices. Klein is likely going to be the guy to get the
starting nod. He has thrown only 19 passes in his career. Klein's biggest game
at K-State was a 4-for-6, 65-yard outing at Missouri last year in which he was
replacing Carson Coffman. Klein is a former receiver who ran
for 127 yards against Texas and 141 against Missouri in consecutive games.
Replacing the big shoes of Thomas will be sophomore transfer Bryce
Brown. Coming out of Wichita (Kansas) East High School in 2009, Brown
was the No. 1 high school running back in the country and rushed for 460 yards
on 101 attempts as a freshman at Tennessee in 2009 before leaving the Vols and
sitting out last year. Overall five starters are due back on offense. On defense, six starters are back. Linebacker Arthur Brown,
a transfer from Miami (Fla.) and brother of Bryce, is expected to be one of the
top defenders on the team. He made a game-high 14 tackles in the spring game and
has speed unlike any other Wildcats linebacker. Emmanuel Lamur
moved to linebacker from safety. Last year he had 46 tackles, including three
for loss, two sacks and an interception. KSU opens the season Sept. 3 vs. Eastern Kentucky and has an over/under Bodog
win total of 5.5. Get your 10% Welcome Bonus at BoDog!
