The Syracuse Orange aren't expected to be contenders for anything this
season, but they'll at least start off the season as favorites on the NCAA
football betting odds in their Week 1 matchup against the Wake Forest Demon
Deacons. At the Bodog Sportsbook the Orange are listed as 7-point home favorites
against the Demon Deacons for Week 1, with kickoff scheduled for 8:00 pm ET
Thursday night. Syracuse went 8-5 overall but just 4-3 in Big East play last season, slipping
into the Pinstripe Bowl at Yankee Stadium where they beat Kansas State 36-34.
With a lot of key defensive players having graduated, though, the Orange could
find it hard to duplicate that success in 2011. That's why Syracuse has a wins OVER/UNDER at the Bodog Sportsbook of just
six, and they're second-last on the Big East odds list at 18/1 to win that
conference title. Only Connecticut (22/1) is below them right now; West Virginia
(2/1) tops that odds list. The Orange at least have starting quarterback Ryan Nassib
back for this season; Nassib threw for 2,334 yards with 19 touchdowns and eight
interceptions for the Orange in 2010. And Nassib will be looking to air it out on Thursday against a Wake Forest
team that went just 3-9 overall and 1-7 against ACC competition in 2010. Those records put the Demon Deacons at the bottom of the ACC's Atlantic
Division, and they're at longshot 55/1 odds to pull off a miracle and win that
division title in 2011. North Carolina State (11/1) is the closest team to them
on that NCAA
football odds list; Florida State is the 2/5 favorite to win the Atlantic
Division. Get all your college
