With a pair of teams ranked in the Top 25, the Mountain West Tournament
should be a thrill to watch for NCAA
basketball betting fans. San Diego State has the top seed, but BYU is more
highly regarded by the voters. This is your Mountain West Tournament
preview. San Diego State (29-2, 18-11 ATS) is ranked seventh in the country. The Aztecs are 9-1 in their past 10 games and have played well against the spread down the stretch; they’re 5-2 ATS in their past seven games, including back-to-back covers. Their most recent loss, though, came to their biggest threat—BYU. The Cougars (28-3, 13-14 ATS) have won eight of their past nine games. They
haven’t had nearly as much success against the spread, however, going just 2-2
ATS in their last four outings. Still, BYU has climbed as high as third overall
in the country (currently eighth) thanks to Player of the Year candidate
Jimmer Fredette, who is averaging 27.9 points per game. The
biggest question is whether the team can move on after Brandon
Davies (11.1 points, 6.2 rebounds per game) was kicked off the team for
violating the school’s honor code. UNLV (23-7, 12-17 ATS) may not be nationally-ranked, but they can’t be taken
lightly. The Rebels carry a five-game winning streak into the Mountain West
Tournament, including a 3-1 run against the spread. After UNLV, there’s a bit of a drop off in competition. While Colorado State
(19-11, 17-10-1 ATS) and New Mexico (20-11, 13-14-1 ATS) are respectable
basketball teams, it’s hard to believe they’ll be able to get through the
Aztecs, Cougars, and Rebels. Get all your college
