Usually when an Ivy League school plays a Top-25 team, you can pretty much guarantee a blowout win for the ranked club. But when Harvard visits defending national champion UConn tonight, don’t rule out a Crimson win. The Huskies are 6.5-point favorites on Bodog’s NCAA basketball betting odds and there will be live betting available.

The Crimson (8-0) already are being mentioned as perhaps one of the best Ivy League teams ever, led by reigning Ivy League Player of the Year Keith Wright. Coached by former Seton Hall and Michigan coach Tommy Amaker, Harvard is 8-0 for the first time in 27 seasons. And you might be thinking that Harvard has played weak competition. Well, you would be wrong. It won the Battle 4 Atlantis holiday tournament, beating Utah, ranked Florida State and Central Florida. That win over then-No. 20 FSU was the second in school history over a Top-25 team.

And this week, Harvard entered the AP Poll at No. 25. The Crimson are the first Ivy League team to be ranked nationally in a major poll since Cornell was rated No. 17 in the final ESPN/USA Today poll of the 2010 season. The last Ivy team to appear in the AP was the 1997-98 Princeton team that finished No. 8 in the rankings. Harvard is looking to become the first Ivy League team to start 9-0 since Columbia in 1969-70.

Connecticut (7-1, 5-0 home) was also in that Battle 4 Atlantis tournament and lost to Central Florida before squeaking by Florida State in overtime. The Huskies have gotten a boost of late, however, as freshman guard Ryan Boatright became eligible starting in that FSU win. In two games, he is averaging 18.5 ppg. The Huskies lead the all-time series with Harvard 14-2 and pounded the Crimson last year in Hartford 81-52.
