After losing just five times at home during the regular season, the Chicago
Bulls looked out of sync and were shocked in Game 1 of their Eastern Conference semifinal series
on Monday night by Atlanta, 103-95. So now the Bulls face a near must-win to
knot the series at a game apiece before heading down to Georgia. Chicago is an
8.5-point favorite on Bodog’s NBA odds. The Bulls will take the court with the 2010-11 NBA MVP. Point guard Derrick Rose was officially given that award on Tuesday to become the youngest MVP winner in NBA history. And Rose will need a better effort than Game 1 for Chicago. He had solid numbers in 24 points and 10 assists, but he shot an awful 11-for-27 from the field and somehow didn’t get to the free throw line once – that had happened since mid-December. Rose, who vowed to be much more aggressive in driving into
the lane in Game 2, also tweaked his ankle at the end of Game 1 but practiced Tuesday and will start. Atlanta’s game plan worked to perfection with multiple isolations for guards
Joe Johnson (the star with 34 points) and Jamal
Crawford (22 points). Atlanta shot 51 percent and 7-for-13 from long
range against a Chicago team that led the NBA in field goal percentage defense
during the regular season. Backup point guard Jeff Teague, only
starting because Kirk Hinrich is out injured, was very good
with 10 points, five assists and just one turnover in 45 minutes. Look for
Chicago to give very different looks on defense tonight after being embarrassed.
The Bulls didn’t lose back-to-back games at home this season. Can the Hawks pull the upset again? Bet on this game now at Bodog!
