The San Antonio Spurs and Los Angeles Lakers are two of the best teams in the
Western Conference, but only one of them is playing like it—the Lakers are in
the midst of a meltdown. The clubs meet on Tuesday’s NBA betting
odds. Los Angeles (55-25, 37-43 ATS) has lost five straight games. The Lakers fell 120-106 to the Oklahoma City Thunder on Sunday, dropping them to 0-5 in their past five games on NBA odds—and just 3-9 in their past 12 games against the spread. The Lakers managed 106 points against OKC, which is pretty much an explosion
compared to the first four games of the losing streak; during that stretch, the
Lakers scored 90 points or less all four times, averaging just 87.0 points per
game. Los Angeles needs to get Lamar Odom going again, especially
if they hope to come true on their lofty 11/4 odds of
winning the NBA championship. Though there are plenty of players not going
very hard right now, Odom’s scoring has suffered a noticeable drop-off. The
forward has been held to single-digit scoring in two of his last three games,
including a brutal seven-point effort in the loss to Oklahoma City. San Antonio (61-19, 44-34-2 ATS) is headed in the other direction—up. After
tumbling through the end of March with a six-game losing streak, the Spurs have
gotten healthy and racked up four consecutive wins. The Spurs beat Utah 111-102
on Saturday, though they failed to cover. The loss on NBA odds
dropped them to 3-1 ATS in their past four games. The Spurs have nothing to play for now, as they’ve already locked up first
place in the West. They still got a well-rounded effort against Utah, though,
with six different players scoring in double figures. Still, head coach
Gregg Popovich cut back his starters’ minutes a little bit, and he’ll
likely continue to do so until the postseason arrives. San Antonio and Los Angeles are tied 5-5 in their past 10 games against each
other, though L.A. has a 6-4 edge against the spread. Get all your NBA betting
