After a night off, NBA betting resumes Tuesday with a fantastic battle between the San Antonio Spurs and the Atlanta Hawks.

Much was made about the recent slump suffered by San Antonio (58-19, 42-33-2 ATS), but that appears to be over after a 114-97 blowout over the Phoenix Suns last Sunday. The win ended a six-game losing streak while also cutting short a four-game losing streak against the spread.

You’d expect Tim Duncan, Manu Ginobili and Tony Parker to be at the heart of a big victory, but the stars combined for just 21 points against Phoenix. The bench, on the other hand, came through with an amazing effort; the Spurs were led by George Hill (29 points), Matt Bonner (16 points, 11 rebounds) and Gary Neal (15 points).

Now it’s a matter of gauging what kind of effort the Spurs will put into this final stretch of the season. San Antonio has a solid—but not invincible—lead on the Los Angeles Lakers for first place in the Western Conference. The club is going to want to secure first while keeping its stars fresh for the postseason.

Atlanta (44-33, 37-40 ATS) was enjoying a four-game winning streak before facing the Houston Rockets on Sunday. The Hawks lost 114-109, though they did keep their streak against the NBA odds alive, extending their run to 6-0 ATS.

The Hawks were winning with some impressive defense. They didn’t allow a single opponent to top 90 points during the undefeated streak, giving up just 83.7 points per game in that span. The Rockets went wild, though, hitting 57.3 percent of their shots.

At least Atlanta’s offense showed signs of life. Atlanta was averaging just 91.8 points in its past six games, but the team racked up 109 against Houston. Josh Smith had 25 points, 11 rebounds and seven assists in the loss.

San Antonio is 8-2 in its past 10 games against the Hawks, including a 6-4 run against the spread. The Spurs won 108-92 when they faced off in December.
