The Phoenix Suns are desperately clinging to their playoff hopes, but they’ll face a brutal challenge to stay alive on Tuesday’s NBA basketball betting menu; Phoenix must head to Los Angeles to face the Lakers.

The Lakers (50-20, 34-36 ATS) are on fire. Los Angeles has won 12 of its past 13 games, including a four-game winning streak. But they haven’t been quite so sharp on NBA odds, however. They beat Portland 84-80 on Saturday but dropped to 4-3 in their last seven games against the spread.

Los Angeles will be shorthanded on Tuesday. Andrew Bynum is serving a two-game suspension after a hard foul on Minnesota’s Michael Beasley last Friday. Bynum has been a major part of L.A.’s hot streak, averaging 11.8 points and 13.0 rebounds in his past 12 games. He’s shooting 60.9 percent from the field in that span and has also played some fantastic defense.

Bynum missed the win over Portland, but L.A. got a big effort from Lamar Odom in his place. The veteran forward racked up 16 points, 11 rebounds and six assists, and he’ll be counted on for a similar effort against Phoenix.

The Suns (35-33, 32-34-2 ATS) continue to see-saw back and forth. They recently endured a four-game skid but have now won two consecutive games. The Suns came up with a 108-99 win over the Clippers last weekend, and they’ve actually been quite good against the spread lately; Phoenix is 3-0-1 in its past four games against the NBA odds.

The club is crossing its fingers Steve Nash’s body will hold up long enough to make a playoff push. Nash recently went through a horrible slump, and it’s obvious he’s wearing down. The All-Star guard suffered through an eight-game stint in which he averaged just 8.7 points. Phoenix finally had enough and gave Nash a couple of games off to heal. The plan has seemingly worked, as Nash has posted 20.0 points, 11.5 assists, and 6.5 rebounds in his last two games.
