The Denver Nuggets continue to soar despite having shipped off franchise
player Carmelo Anthony earlier in the season. They’ll try to
keep their momentum rolling when they host the Oklahoma City Thunder in an NBA betting
matchup this Tuesday. Oklahoma City (50-26, 39-36-1 ATS) had been one of the hottest teams in the NBA until last week. The Thunder went 11-1 before dropping back-to-back games, including a 98-92 loss to the Los Angeles Clippers on Saturday. The sudden slump is a direct result of a suddenly ice-cold offense. Oklahoma
City gets most of its scoring from Kevin Durant,
Russell Westbrook and James Harden, but all
three have been inconsistent lately. Durant always puts up points, but he’s had
some terrible shooting nights over the past few weeks (9-for-24 in a loss to
Portland; 5-for-18 in a win over Portland; 6-for-2 in a loss to Toronto). Harden
made just three of his 11 field goal attempts against the Clippers. Westbrook has been especially bad during the two-game losing streak. He’s
averaging 21.8 points while shooting about 44 percent from the field this
season, but the star point guard has made just six of his past 27 shots—about 22
percent shooting. Westbrook has just 25 points in his past two games
combined. Denver (47-29, 40-32-4 ATS) continues to flourish in the post-Carmelo Anthony
era. The Nuggets are 14-4 since shipping ‘Melo to New York, including their
current six-game winning streak. The Nuggets have been massive against the
spread, going 17-2-1 in their past 20 games. Lately, they’ve been excelling with great defense. Denver beat the Lakers
95-90 on Sunday, and Kobe Bryant said the Nuggets “come at you
in waves.” Denver has held five of its last six opponents to 94 points or
less. Danilo Gallinari, who came over in the Anthony trade, has
made a nice impact at the other end of the floor. Gallinari missed eight games
with an ankle injury a few weeks ago but, in eight games since returning to the
lineup, he’s averaging 15.9 points per game. He scored 22 points against the
Lakers. Get all your NBA odds at
