The Orlando Magic swept the Atlanta Hawks in record-breaking fashion in last
year’s NBA playoffs. But it’s a
new year and that was made obvious in Game 1 of this year’s series against
Atlanta with the Hawks going to Orlando and stunning the Magic 103-93 on
Saturday. Thus now Orlando faces pretty much a must win on Tuesday night or else
it will have to travel north down two games to none. The Magic are 9-point
favorites on Bodog’s NBA odds. You certainly can’t blame Orlando center Dwight Howard for the Game 1 loss. Howard, who became the first player in NBA history to win the Defensive Player of the Year Award three straight years on Monday, had the game of his career with 46 points and 19 rebounds on Saturday. He was the first NBA player with at least 45 points and 15 rebounds in a playoff loss since Hakeem Olajuwon in 1987. But the Hawks led by as many as 18 points while running multiple bodies
at Howard all night, and the rest of the Magic failed to step up. Jameer Nelson had 27 points but no other Orlando player reached double figures. Hawks coach Larry Drew maintains he will not double-team Howard, preferring to guard Orlando's 3-point shooters. Only 14 teams in league history have won a best-of-seven playoff series after falling behind two games to zero. Meanwhile, five Hawks had at least 13 points. After shooting just 36 percent
in the first quarter, the Hawks connected on 30 of their final 52 attempts from
the field. The Magic had 18 giveaways that led to 21 Atlanta points. Get the best player props on Hawks-Magic at Bodog!
