With the L.A. Lakers falling into a 2-0 hole against the Dallas Mavericks, NBA betting
fans have two huge questions on their minds—are the Lakers finished, and should
Dallas be the new favorite on the NBA
championship odds? They play Game 3 of their second-round series on Friday
night. The Lakers look completely discombobulated. Several players mentioned a lack of trust in each other after Wednesday’s 93-81 loss. The team definitely lacks a scoring punch. Los Angeles shot just 41 percent from the field, including a horrific 2-for-20 effort from beyond the three-point line. To cap things off, the Lakers managed just 34 second-half points. Los Angeles hardly looks like a championship team right now—it looks like a
team that has quit. Pau Gasol continues to struggle after
scoring just 13 points in Game 2, while Ron Artest reverted to
his headcase days and clotheslined J.J. Barea (now suspended
for Game 3). Kobe Bryant and Andrew Bynum seem like the
only two players truly trying. Bryant, though, is sometimes hurting the team by
trying to do too much; he was 1-for-5 from downtown on Wednesday and, though he
led the Lakers with 23 points, Bryant had just three assists and no
rebounds. Dallas is quickly surging up the NBA
championship odds. At 5/1, the Mavericks trail only the Miami Heat (7/4) and
Chicago Bulls (7/2). Dirk Nowitzki might be the best player in
the NBA right now. The lanky German is shooting 56.3 percent over his past three
games while averaging 28.3 points and 10.6 rebounds per game. The Lakers, meanwhile, are quickly plummeting down the NBA
championship odds. They now trail four teams with 6/1 odds to win the
title. Get all your NBA odds at
